December 2007 Christmas Campaign

A blog entry by Kyna Leong on the 1st of December:

We've had a quiet week this week. We didn't have to teach at Sanklang this week because the matoyam had all left for Pattaya with the teachers and so achan Siriwan told us not to come. So we had the mornings off. We used the time to clean the back room. All the pillows and mats and blankets that were just pushed to one side of the room, so that took up one of the mornings. The others we used to prepare for Christmas and help with the construction work. After several teams had romped across the stage and broken a few planks, and after 6-7 years of wear and tear, they finally decided to replace the stage. Termites had gotten to most of the wood, and there were live termites still on the planks they took out. They put a stronger support underneath and they put a concrete layer on the top. They plan to put tiles on top of that, but that will have to wait till next week. In the afternoons, we've been at the Banjankureang teaching the P3's and helping the boarding house kids with their homework. They have quite a strict routine. They all got in trouble on Wednesday because some had not taken their shower by 6pm and some were not waking up at 5:30am when they should have been. Krue Na's quite strict.

Last weekend, we went to Huai Nam Dang, Pi Getip's village. 3 hrs in the back of the Ute each way. Don't worry, we didn't do anything dangerous, and we stayed in the car at all times. Abel and Pi Krit had fun sitting on the top edge of the Ute tray though. It was quite cold. Maybe coz the car was going so fast, there was a lot of wind. There was a thanksgiving service in Huai Nam Dang, which was why we went up. We also met Pi Getip's father, who's a silversmith. They killed a cow, but we didn't get to see it. We just saw the slabs of meat which resulted from it.

Also on Monday, another church member Pi Im's grandfather also past away, which was quite sad. Last year at the New Year we went to her house and we met him. He couldn't walk and he had to move around on his hands. He lived with his son and daughter in law.

Anyways, I have been here for almost an hour typing emails, so I have to go, Take care and send our best wishes to all at home

A blog entry by Melissa Cheung:

The main things we have been doing is school teaching and hanging out with the kids after school.

Our routine is:
Wake up 6:30-7:00
Walk the kids to school 7:30ish
Have devotion before or after walking the kids to school depending on the business of the day
Teach 3-4 classes depending on the day
Come home and wait for the children to come home from school
Help them with homework and push all of them to have showers before 6:30
and pi Krit or krue Na takes them for Christian teaching, song preparation, or punishments for most nights during the week

We went to pi Getip home village in the mountains last weekend and stayed there for the night.

As for the future we are preparing for Christmas programs in 5 different villages. 3 in Phrao and 2 in Surin

But before that I don't know if you know but pi Korn's sister accepted Christ recently which is terrific news so we are having a Christmas program in Surin and in Pomsittern

And on sadder news one of the church members grandfather died this week and they had the funeral on Thursday
