Phrao Boarding House Project
The project was a partnership between the Surin Foundation and the Phrao First Church of Christ to provide safe accommodation and a Christian program for Hill Tribe students studying in Phrao.
The boarding house operates as a live-in program that helps students in their academic studies and character formation, as well as encouraging them to explore a deeper Christian faith. Moreover, the program aims to prevent the tendency of such children to gravitate towards alcohol abuse, drugs and unruly behavior.
The board house program was designed to deliver a two fold benefit for the local church; firstly the students would form ready-made youth ministry that would strengthen the hosting church. When the students completed their studies, it is hoped that many will return to strengthen the Hill Tribes churches.In October 2008, the Surin Foundation accepted the request of the Phrao church to end its financial support towards the project on the understanding that no further funding was required. We continue to pray for our brothers and sisters at Phrao church and wish them all the best as they continue the ministry towards the children.
